The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, when Metropolitan Police responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Flamingo Road and Decatur Avenue.
Evidence at the scene and surveillance video showed a man, later identified as 59-year-old Li Jianzhi, pushing a wheelchair across Flamingo Road outside a marked crosswalk, documents said. According to police, the driver of a Ford F-150, later identified as Huber, was traveling westbound on Flamingo Road when he struck and dragged the pedestrian into the road.

Police said Huber did not stop or stop at the scene but continued westbound on Flamingo Road. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene.
One day later, at around 7:30 a.m. on December 7, police received a call reporting a domestic dispute involving an engaged couple.
When police arrived at the home, they met with Huber and his fiancée and located the truck involved in the crash and a license plate matching the description seen in the video footage, the report said.
Huber’s fiancée told police that Huber left alone on the night of Saturday, December 6, and returned home the next morning, December 7.
When he got home, he asked her to come outside and look at the front end of his truck. She told police he was acting “different” and there was new damage to the front end of the truck, which Huber said he didn’t remember how it happened, according to the arrest report. The pair then began reviewing dashcam video from the truck to see how the damage occurred.
However, they told police they were unable to find the video footage. Afterwards, Huber’s fiancée told police that Huber became upset and an argument began between the couple, according to the police report.
He then began making suicidal threats with a gun in his backyard, and that’s when his fiancée called police to “report Huber’s behavior,” according to the arrest report.
Police said surveillance video from Huber’s neighborhood showed his truck had two working headlights when he left his home Saturday night. When he returned around 5:52 a.m. Sunday, the driver’s side headlight and front grille were missing.
Huber was arrested for firing a gun and making suicide threats. Huber was taken to the Henderson Detention Center.
Once in jail, Huber told police he was dealing with mental health issues and was driving a friend home on Flamingo Road. However, he denied any involvement in the crash, according to the police report.
Huber had “bloodshot/watering eyes and a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his mouth while speaking,” police said in the report. Police also noted Huber’s “slurred speech,” according to the arrest report. Huber refused to submit to standardized field sobriety tests and a blood draw.
As of December 15, Huber faces the following charges:
-
Obligation to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or injury
The judge previously set bail at $150,000. Huber remained in custody as of Monday.
