This is not a high-end device for coffee lovers. It’s a cheap plastic one-button espresso machine like the ones you’d find in office break rooms. But it rose to prominence as Italy defeated the United States to secure a spot in the WBC knockout rounds and put the U.S.’s standing in jeopardy. It remained in the Italian dugout during their run to the semi-finals.
The money goes to good causes, with all proceeds going to the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center.
A fierce Italian team rewards home run hitters with an espresso when they return to the dugout before being eliminated.
Italy continued to use this machine as they advanced to the semifinals, but lost in the final to a Venezuelan team that had defeated the United States in the championship. Now, the espresso machine that powers its operation is being sold for the right reasons.
