There is no ETA to reopen this section of state Route 167, WSDOT says. Here’s why

A section of State Route 167 in southern King County remained completely closed Sunday morning due to water on the road, the state Department of Transportation announced on social media.

According to WSDOT, the closures are: South 212th Street to 15th Street Northwest in Kent and Auburn counties.

Several traffic ramps are closed in the area.

WSDOT officials said they are coordinating closely with local partners to reopen the highway but do not yet have an estimated time, according to social media posts.

Drivers are asked to find alternative routes.

Water accumulated on roads as a series of atmospheric rivers swept across western Washington last week, triggering widespread flooding across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, up to 17 inches of rain fell in some areas.

More rainfall is expected. The area is again on a flood watch from 10 a.m. Monday to 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
