A fellow inmate who physically assaulted his wife’s killer reportedly did not face any criminal punishment for his actions.
Scott Peterson was convicted in 2004 of the first-degree murders of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. He is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole at Mule Creek State Prison.

Nearly a year later, Amador County District Attorney Scott Reebe revealed that Mule Creek State Prison would not turn over the case to that office for further prosecution. However, the district attorney did not provide further information on why the case was not transferred.

In new evidence, lawyers claimed that a witness allegedly heard a conversation between the home burglars arguing that Luckey had seen them. Peterson’s attorneys previously said Lacy was killed after he saw two burglars break into a neighbor’s house while Peterson was fishing.

Peterson’s attorney is a member of the Los Angeles Innocence Project, which stresses that had the jury been presented with this evidence, they would have acquitted their client.
