Sorry in advance, the power outage put a damper on the night at Pennsburg headquarters, but nothing was going to slow down the Penguins tonight. Pittsburgh went into the barn of the NHL’s best team and came away with a huge 7-2 victory.
There are some changes to the lineup; as expected, Evgeni Malkin returns from suspension. Less unexpectedly, Justin Brazeau made a quick return from injury, helping Blake Lizotte exit the lineup for this game due to an injury of his own.

It was a typical Yevgeny Malkin night, as only he can. Malkin took an offensive zone penalty on his first rotation but scored on a spinning backhand shot almost immediately after leaving the zone. This set the tone for the game and although Nathan MacKinnon scored the first goal soon after, the Pens responded to this by allowing Anthony Mantha to score his breakaway goal. From that point on, the Pens started the game, scoring early and often within the first few possessions. We’ll have more tomorrow in response to a big statement game in Pittsburgh. They’re 2-1-1 on a very tough and challenging road trip that’s as dangerous as ever, and all without Sidney Crosby.
