Last season, the team changed its offensive strategy and used more tight ends, which meant there was a greater need at this position.
That’s good news for a deep group of free-agent tight ends. There are plenty of productive veterans and players still in their prime after their rookie contracts for teams to look at. Travis Kelce could have cracked the top five, but it seems inevitable that he will either return to the Chiefs or retire. Even if he’s not a realistic choice, many others are.

Here are the top five tight ends available in free agency:
1. Kyle Pitts Sr.
Pitts has been inconsistent, but he’s the top tight end expected to hit free agency. It doesn’t matter because the Falcons have the franchise tag on him and it’s unlikely any team will put him on an offer sheet. If Pitts can get tagged, the Falcons have a chance to see if he can perform well for a second straight season.
2. Isaiah Possible
Likely to have served in a backup role with the Ravens, leading some to believe he could do more if he could get out of Mark Andrews’ shadow. We’ll see if NFL teams feel the same way. He is only 25 years old and should have a few more golden years left. It’s time to see if he performs well in a full-time role.

3.Dallas Goedert
Goedert has been a consistent performer for the Eagles despite having many other offensive stars around him who needed touches. Goedert caught 11 touchdowns last season, showing he’s not slowing down heading into his age-31 season. Goedert appears to be a very safe, reliable option for a team looking for an effective starter.

4. David Njoku
Njoku was passed over by the Browns due to the emergence of 2025 rookie Harold Fannin Jr., but he is an athletic player who has been outstanding in the past, reaching 882 yards in 2023. He will be 30 next season and still has a lot to contribute to his new team.
5. Chigozim Okonkwo
Okonkwo seems to have a level he has yet to reach. But he had between 450 and 560 yards in each of his four NFL seasons with the Titans and showed athleticism that hinted at more. He turns 27 in September, and if the Titans can’t re-sign him, he would be a great signing for a team looking for a breakout player.
