Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have purchased a large amount of real estate in Florida, according to multiple reports.

Zuckerberg and Chan have locked in a $170 million deal to buy a mansion under construction in Miami’s exclusive Indian River Island neighborhood, also known as the “Billionaire Bunker.” Other high-profile celebrities with homes in the private village include Tom Brady, Jeff Bezos and Carl Icahn.

New home sets local record

according to wall street journalZuckerberg and Chan’s acquisition set a new record for Miami-Dade County and is one of the most expensive acquisitions in U.S. history.

The record for an oceanfront compound in Naples, Florida, was set last year at $225 million, while the current U.S. record is held by billionaire Ken Griffin’s $238 million New York condo purchased in 2019.

The house, which sits on 1.84 acres and is still under construction, was commissioned in 2020 by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Aaron Rollins and his real estate agent wife Marine Rollins. The couple put the property on the market last year for $200 million.

“The Rollins family paid more than $30 million in 2020 to purchase the roughly 2-acre site and spent several years designing and building the limestone mansion,” the Wall Street Journal said. “Plans include a nine-bedroom home of about 30,000 square feet, with a dock and swimming pool. Amenities include a gym, hair salon and massage room, as well as a 1,500-gallon aquarium and a library with a secret passage.”
