“Just talking to the president”: Woods reportedly called Trump prior to DUI arrest

Tiger Woods reportedly called the legendary golfer shortly before Donald Trump was arrested for drunk driving.

Woods was involved in a car accident on Friday in Jupiter, Florida. In the video shared earlier this week, Woods told police he was briefly distracted by his phone before crashing into the trailer of a car in front of him. Several pills were found in his pocket. Woods was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.

TMZ on Thursday shared police body camera video of the scene, which shows Woods talking on his cellphone away from officers. “Thank you so much. OK You get it. Goodbye,” Woods said into his phone as an officer approached.

Woods walked back to the scene of the accident with a police officer, who said he was “just talking to the president.” Trump made comments to reporters outside Air Force One shortly after the accident. The president called Woods “a very close friend of mine.”

“I feel bad. He had some difficulty – there was an accident, that’s all I know,” Trump said. “He’s a great guy, a great guy. But there’s something difficult about it. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Woods is dating Trump’s former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump. Vanessa Trump was married to Donald Trump, Jr. from 2005 to 2018, and they have 5 children.
