BOSTON — Right now, the Boston Celtics don’t have more talent than the New York Knicks. But they made up for it on Tuesday night, beating their Atlantic Division rival 123-117 at TD Garden.
Boston led by 18 points entering the fourth quarter, but that lead quickly shrunk and it felt like deja vu. Celtics fans will remember that the Greens repeatedly blew double-digit leads to the Knicks in the 2025 Eastern Conference Semifinals, but they lost six games in the series. However, there were no encore performances on Tuesday, much to the delight of the TD Garden crowd.

The team held on in the closing stages thanks to key offensive rebounds from wing Jordan Walsh and timely shooting from star Jaylen Brown. In fact, Brown sealed the win with a wide-open dunk with 2.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
That bucket gave him 42 points, which was good enough for a season high. Walsh finished with eight points, six rebounds and one block, while forward Mikal Bridges scored 35 points in 34 minutes to lead New York.
After this tough victory, the Celtics have won four of their past five games and have an overall record of 12 wins and 9 losses. This is the first time all season they’ve had three games over .500.
