former first lady and secretary of state Hillary Clinton Young Americans have become sympathetic to Palestinians because they watched “completely fabricated” videos of Gaza terror on social media, a complaint said at a conference hosted by an Israeli newspaper on Tuesday.
“Smart, well-educated young people from our country and around the world, where do they get their information?” Clinton asked at a New York conference hosted by an Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “They get their information from social media, especially TikTok.”
She continued, “That’s where they learn about what happened on October 7, and what happened in the days, weeks and months that followed. This is a serious problem. It’s a serious problem for democracy, whether it’s Israel or the United States, and it’s a serious problem for our young people.”
Clinton complained that when she tried to have some kind of reasonable discussion with young people, “it’s very difficult because they don’t know the history, they don’t have a lot of context, and what they’re being told on social media is not just one-sided but pure propaganda.”
“It’s not just the usual suspects. There are a lot of young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand it,” she claimed, adding, “A lot of the challenge comes from young people. More than 50 percent of young Americans get their news from social media.”
The former first lady concluded: “So pause for a second. What they saw were short clips, some of which were completely made up, some of which did not represent what they claimed to be showing at all, and that’s where they got their information.”
Former Obama White House Speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz He made similar remarks to young people at a conference hosted by the Jewish Federations of North America last month.
“TikTok spends its days smashing the brains of our young people with videos of the massacre in Gaza,” she complained. “That’s why a lot of us can’t have a sane conversation with young Jews, because anything we try to say to them, they hear through this wall of slaughter.”
Hurwitz also claimed that Holocaust education “confuses” young people into sympathizing with “weak, scrawny Palestinians” rather than “mighty Israelis.”
