Ja’Kobi Lane continues to make the most of his opportunities and further make a name for himself. He followed up his performance at the Senior Bowl with a strong performance at the NFL combine. Ja’Kobi Lane isn’t underrated in the Big Ten and not to many who follow USC, but he’s still a talented receiver with a high ceiling. He was not noticed until recently.
The Trojans receiver was named to the 2026 all-purpose hybrid team in a recent tweet from the NFL. Jakoby Lane did exactly what he needed to do at the combine, and he’s deservedly considered a major riser in the upcoming draft. Ryan possesses all the intangible qualities of a good receiver, and he checked that last box, timing the 40-yard dash very well with a time of 4.48.

The combine is designed for undervalued players to boost their stock with good performances, but if you’re a highly sought-after player it can also impact your stock if you test poorly. For example, the combine really showed how short Rueben Bain’s arms are, which could very well allow Bain to slide 5-10 picks. He may now be left out of the top ten.
Happily, though, Jacoby Lane is finally getting his stamp of approval. This is a receiver who can make almost every catch, run every route in the route tree, make plays in a timely manner, and get his quarterback right. Just like during his tenure at USC, he made the most of his opportunity, making one final critical performance at the combine before heading to the NFL.
I think Ryan will end up being one of the biggest steals in the draft, and he’ll likely end up being the top receiver on the team’s offense while being drafted on Day 2 or 3. He has the skills, and he has the character to be a home run draft pick for any team lucky enough to draft him.
