The Women’s Championship Classic returns this Saturday at Barclays Center and will feature four of the biggest names in college basketball. UConn, Iowa State, Tennessee and Louisville will all take the floor in Brooklyn for the second consecutive year.
This historically successful program has made a total of 49 Final Four appearances and won 20 national championships. UConn has had the lion’s share of that success, winning 12 titles since the 1994-95 season under Geno Auriemma. All four teams are currently ranked in the AP’s top 25.

Louisville (11-3) defeated in-state rival Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. The Cardinals shot 14% from 3-point range (3-for-22) and 58% from the free throw line (11-for-19), but they still won comfortably 76-51. They’re averaging 81.9 points per game on 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc this season, and they’ll see the ball hit the net more often against Tennessee.

The showcase ends with the No. 1 Huskies taking on the No. 11 Hawkeyes.
Sophomore Sarah Strong had 22 points and seven rebounds (despite six turnovers) as UConn (11-0) swept Marquette 89-53 on Wednesday. Last year’s Big East Freshman of the Year led the Huskies in all statistics, including points (17.9), rebounds (8.5), assists (4.6), steals (3.3) and blocks (2.0).
Iowa State (10-1) rebounded from its first setback of the season, falling to rival Iowa State 74-69. Sophomore Ava Heiden, the Hawkeyes’ leading scorer this season, scored 14 points on 7-of-7 shooting.
UConn and Iowa both enter Saturday with top-20 offenses: the Huskies (89.7 points per game) are 10th, while the Hawkeyes (83.8 points per game) are not far behind at 17th.
