The Dolphins waived Tua Tagovailoa on Monday, clearing the way for Willis to sign and become Miami’s new starting quarterback. His new contract is worth an average of $22.5 million per season, easily beating the contract Justin Fields signed in New York last offseason.
Willis appeared in 11 games with the Packers, completing 70 of 89 passes for 972 yards, six touchdown passes, zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 134.6. In Willis’ three starts, the Packers have a 2-1 record. Willis, a 2022 third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, had a chance to reset his career path in Green Bay and took full advantage.
The Packers acquired Willis with a seventh-round pick before the 2024 season. He’s produced quality production for Green Bay every time he takes the field for two seasons as Jordan Love’s backup, and now the Packers can get a 2027 third-round compensatory pick in return.
The Packers will face Hafley and Willis at Lambeau Field next season.
