Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola described his side as outstanding but admitted they were missing something that could take them to the next level.
The Blues were knocked out of the Champions League this week after losing 5-1 on aggregate to Real Madrid. Arsenal sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table and Manchester City are in danger of missing out on all the big prizes this season.

“I have a feeling that we are at a disadvantage in many things,” Guardiola said. “It’s going to boom. I have a feeling it’s close.”
“On other things we need more time for the players to realize what we need to be. There are strong teams in many, many departments. But on most things we are close.

“We are an extraordinary team in many ways,” the Catalan continued.
“Otherwise we wouldn’t have finished in the top eight of the Champions League. We wouldn’t have finished second in the Premier League, we wouldn’t have finished second in the League Cup final and we wouldn’t have finished in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. We know that in nine months’ time we won’t be here.”

When asked what exactly was missing, he replied: “I know, I know. I’m not going to tell you, I know. The players know it.”
The City boss added: “Control the ball through the ball. That’s always been and always will be the case until the last day of my dreams. So, control the ball and create chances.”
“We keep the ball, we create chances. That’s the idea of the type of player we want to develop from day one to the last day.”
