The NFL playoffs begin on Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles, and there’s a lot of pressure on Jalen Hurts and the offense to make changes.

Throughout the 2025 NFL season, the Eagles’ defense has been the team’s most dominant and consistent unit to date. If the Eagles can maintain the same level of dominance on that side of the ball, the sky is the limit.
But the offense needs to do a better job of taking the pressure off the defense. Philadelphia Eagles legend Ron Jaworski laid out what he believes is the blueprint for the Eagles’ game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Looking back at the Eagles’ performance last year, the team struggled in small offense during the regular season. They can reach another level in the playoffs. The key is running the ball — especially getting the ball into the hands of Jalen Hurts.
“When we got into the playoffs, it was a completely different story,” Jaworski said on 94WIP.

“I’ve got some numbers to back it up. If you look at the four games last year in the playoffs against Green Bay, Los Angeles, Washington and Kansas City, we rushed for 818 yards in four games. We passed for 647 yards in those four games. Here’s the kicker: Jalen Hurts ran for 194 yards in those four games — almost 50 yards a game. We need to get Jalen involved in the running game more.”
To the public, sometimes saying a quarterback needs to run can be seen as a knock. Hurts often finds himself on the receiving end of this criticism, as many believe his running is a mask for his pitching difficulties. The reality is that the dual-threat factor helps keep defenders guessing and gives the Eagles a better chance of running the ball.
“We only turned the ball over once in the entire playoffs and didn’t turn the ball over once,” Jaworski added. “The blueprint is there. Run the ball effectively, get Jalen involved in the run and pass, don’t turn the football over, and we win!”
The Eagles and 49ers will kick off their win-or-go-home battle on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
