On the other hand, Asobo Studio has announced a new game set in the world of A Plague Tale, set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. Here are the key announcements from the Xbox Game Showcase:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 announced

Treyarch and Raven Software are releasing back-to-back Black Ops games for the first time. Following last year’s “Black Ops 6,” Microsoft showed off a trailer for “Black Ops 7” at the Xbox Games Showcase. The game is set in 2035, and the protagonist is David Mason from “Black Ops 2”.

“The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, as conflict and psychological warfare rage after the narrative events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6,” Xbox Wire wrote in a post about the announcement. “With cutting-edge technology at their disposal, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”

“Grounded 2” announced

In addition to directly introducing The Outer Worlds 2, Obsidian Entertainment also announced Grounded 2, the sequel to 2022’s Grounded. The game is set in 1992, two years after the events of the first game, in Brookhollow Park. The new setting’s starting area is as large as the entire backyard map from the first game. Obsidian is developing the game in partnership with Eidos Montreal.

The teenagers from the first game, now slightly older, return in Grounded 2. The game promises a larger, more diverse world, new combat mechanics, new bugs, and more. Grounded 2 will be available as a game preview on July 29, 2025 on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, and Early Access on Steam. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Guardian announced

Keeper is another first-party game from Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine Productions, released at the Xbox Games Showcase. This is a third-person adventure game where players take on the role of a walking lighthouse and explore a vibrant world. Players can use beams to change their surroundings. A seabird will accompany them on their adventures and help them solve puzzles.

The game’s trailer shows off the game’s colorful, psychedelic world – an island where evil is growing. As a lighthouse, players will travel to the center of the island. Keeper will release on Xbox Series S/X and PC on October 17th. It will be available on Game Pass day one.

The Beast of Reincarnation Announced

Pokémon developer Game Freak announced a new game, Beast of Reincarnation, at the Xbox Game Showcase and released a trailer. This action RPG is set in post-apocalyptic Japan, where beasts are everywhere. You play as Emma, a cursed wanderer who fights the beasts along with her dog library.

The remaster brings updated visuals and several other improvements. In the remake, players will return to high school in the rural Japanese town of Inaba, where a series of murders have left people shocked.

As a new transfer student, you will take on the challenges of school life and adolescence while uncovering the truth behind a serial murder case. Persona 4: Resurgence will launch on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PS5, and will be available on Game Pass on day one. Wishes can now be granted across supported platforms.

Resonance: The Legacy of a Plague Tale

Asobo Studios returns with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the third game in the critically acclaimed A Plague Tale series. The new game will serve as an origin story 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The developer promises a new action-adventure approach, with new protagonist Sofia traveling to Minotaur Island to learn the origins of the Yellow Spot Curse.

She will be holding a sword in one hand and a lamp in the other, suggesting that the fight will change. Resonance: A Plague Tale: Legacy will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X in 2026, and will be available on Game Pass on day one.
