As the only Big West team to start its season over the weekend, the Hawaii men’s volleyball team earned all Big West Conference weekly awards announced today.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristian Titiryski was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week, and junior Tread Rosenthal won the BWC Defensive Player of the Week and BWC Setter of the Week awards.

Another UH setter, Magnus Hettervik, was named the BWC Newcomer of the Week.

Titriyski, who won the award for the third time, was the only player to reach double-digit kills in both games against NJIT. He finished the two-game series with an average of 3.83 kills, 439 kills, 5 aces, 5 digs and 6 blocks per set.

Rosenthal leads Houston with 11 career blocks, including a career-high tie with eight in Friday’s opener, and the two awards give him 13 career blocks.

He led UH’s offense to a 517-hit percentage in the series, allowing just 11 hits in 118 attempts.

Hetwick played two sets on Sunday, hitting an ace in his first service game and dishing out three assists on the court to score the final four points for Hawaii to seal the victory.
