Zepto has partnered with German carmaker Skoda India to offer test drives of its latest compact SUV Skoda Kylaq in India. The hyperlocal delivery platform released an ad to promote its new service, which allows customers to test drive a vehicle in just 10 minutes. The news comes amid reports that Zepto will offer fast vehicle purchasing through its platform, with the company later clarifying that “no, we won’t deliver cars in 10 minutes.”
Test drive the Skoda Kylaq via Zepto
Zepto announced a 10-minute test drive of the Skoda Kylaq in India through a LinkedIn post. Zepto denied rumors about the possibility of purchasing a vehicle through the Express Business app, but added that customers will be able to test drive the Skoda Kylaq from February 8, saying it was the “fastest and most convenient way”.
Skoda India later released a television commercial (TVC) through its X (formerly Twitter) account, which showed a Zepto delivery person delivering a test drive vehicle to a customer on a flatbed pickup truck from a Skoda dealership. While the company launched the initiative on the Skoda Kylaq, it is expected to expand the initiative to include other vehicles in the German carmaker’s fleet such as the Kushaq, Kodiaq and Slavia.
Notably, the Kylaq is Skoda’s first compact SUV in India, having made its debut in December. Prices start from Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and is expected to compete with other rivals like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon.
Details about the new partnership between Skoda and Zepto are still limited, but the service is likely to be available in the 10 Indian cities where Zepto operates. These include Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
Other new services
Apart from vehicle test drives, the fast business app also recently started 10-minute delivery service in India for Vivo smartphones such as Vivo Y18i and Vivo Y29 5G. It has also partnered with ASUS to launch select computer peripherals such as the Marshmallow Keyboard KW100, Marshmallow Mouse MD100 and MW203 Multi-Device Wireless Silent Mouse in some cities.
