The Xbox app is now available on select LG smart TVs, allowing anyone with a compatible model to stream games directly from the cloud, without the need for an Xbox console. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in more than 25 countries will be able to enjoy their library of cloud games on their TV using a Bluetooth controller. Last year, Microsoft provided Xbox cloud gaming support for the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

In an Xbox Wire post on Wednesday, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox app will be available on 2022 LG OLED TVs, select 2023 LG smart TVs and newer models, and smart displays running webOS24 or later. The application support will soon appear on StanbyME screens.
With the Xbox app, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to stream select games they own, as well as games from the Game Pass library, directly on supported LG TVs. Microsoft expanded its Xbox cloud gaming offerings in November to include a curated library of purchased games.
Game Pass members with compatible LG TVs can now stream the latest first-party Xbox games, such as Avowed and South of Midnight, without requiring an Xbox console. With the Stream Your Own Game feature, players can start streaming the recently released Assassin’s Creed: Shadows using the Xbox app on their LG TVs.
To enjoy Xbox cloud gaming on an LG TV, players will need a compatible TV, a Game Pass Ultimate membership, and a Bluetooth controller – this can be an Xbox Wireless Controller or a DualSense Controller. Eligible users can navigate to the LG Gaming Portal on their TV, download the Xbox app, log into their Microsoft account, connect their controller and start playing games.
In addition to LG TVs, Xbox cloud gaming via the Xbox app is available on Fire TV Stick, Android, iOS, iPadOS, PC (Windows and Mac), Meta Quest headsets and Samsung smart TVs.
Earlier this month, Microsoft finally brought its game streaming service to the Xbox Series S/X consoles.
