Why Inter are now ‘seriously considering’ selling Barcelona target Alessandro Bastoni for €50m

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has emerged as one of Barcelona’s priority transfer targets ahead of the summer window, with the Catalans now hoping he will be allowed to leave the San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have been considering selling Marcus Thuram but may decide to offload Bastoni. Reports suggest that his age (28), impressive record and the fact that he is an experienced international player mean he could fetch a good price. His contract is also set to expire in 2028.

Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Bastoni and his family are now “considering a dramatic move” to leave the club after attracting interest from a number of other teams.

Barcelona are certainly interested in Bastoni and he reportedly has admirers in the Premier League. His net salary is said to be “over €5 million”, but reports suggest his worth could drop from €70 million.

In fact, it is claimed that “Inter Milan could now accept an offer of around €50 million” as long as some bonuses are provided to help seal the deal.

Bastoni has been having a difficult time in Italy recently. He came under scrutiny for a controversial red card from Pierre Kalulu during the Italian derby and his celebrations.

Just a few weeks ago, there were reports that Bastoni and Inter were in contract talks, but things appear to have changed at the San Siro and a summer exit is no longer ruled out.
