This week, some of the best high school football talents in the country will take the field in Atlanta to compete for the state championship trophy.

There’s no better matchup than the 6A finals, with Buford, the No. 1 team in the Sporting News Top 25, taking on No. 5 SN Carrollton in an epic 14-0 matchup.
While the Trojans have a tradition of excellence, they haven’t won it all since 1998 and they will be ready to bring the trophy back to Carrollton. Buford began to rise to prominence shortly thereafter, and since 2001 the Wolves have won 13 state titles in six different classifications, but have struggled the past three years — a drought by their standards.
Elsewhere, the finals in the four smallest divisions will feature teams seeking repeat championships: Carver, Columbus (2A), Toombs County (A-Div. I), Bowdon (A-Div. II) and Hebron Christian (Private). Bowdoin is trying to win it all for the fourth straight year.
