‘We’re Not Done Yet’: CD Projekt Red Confirms Cyberpunk 2077 Is Getting Another Update Later This Month

Cyberpunk 2077 received update 2.2 in December 2024, four years after the game launched. At the time, this seemed to be the final update for the RPG game as developer CD Project Red turned its focus to The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. However, the Polish studio hasn’t finished the game yet. CD Projekt Red announced during its REDstreams live broadcast that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 later this month.

Cyberpunk update 2.3 announced

The developer will launch Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 on June 26 and will share details about the patch closer to launch. “Before we wrap up, there was one question that was repeated multiple times in the chat,” CD Projekt Red senior community manager Alicja Kozera said during a live stream of the Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 launch event. “You have been asking for another DLC for Cyberpunk. I can tell you now that we are planning another part for the game. The last one is not the last one.”

“We’re not done yet,” the studio’s global community director Marcin Momot said in a post on X after the live broadcast. “Stay tuned for more information about the next update for Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released later this month.” Momot said that the team will share details about the content of Update 2.3 closer to release.

CD Projekt Red associate game director Pawel Sasko also confirmed the update on X on Thursday and said he is working on the patch himself.

Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch support

The upcoming update marks an impressive lifecycle of post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077. The game was released on December 10, 2020, and was riddled with bugs, glitches, and serious performance issues, especially on last-generation consoles. CD Projekt Red has released several major updates over the years, fixing many of the game’s issues, adding new and requested features, and overhauling the system.

The company launched patch 2.0 in 2023 with Phantom Freedom, Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only major expansion, redesigning several game mechanics, including the police system and skill trees.

The RPG appears to have received its last major patch in update 2.1, which adds the long-awaited subway system, the ability to hang out with romantic partners, radio stations, and more. CD Projekt Red doesn’t stop there, however. In December 2024, the developers rolled out update 2.2, which added new customization options, an overhauled photo mode, and new interactions for Johnny Silverhand.

Earlier this year, the game received patch 2.21, which added support for Nvidia DLSS 4 on PC and made a series of fixes across all platforms.

On June 5, “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” bundled the base game and the “Phantom Freedom” expansion pack and was released as the launch game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red is working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The game recently dropped its “Project Orion” codename and is now known as “Cyberpunk 2.” CD Projekt Red confirmed during its first-quarter earnings call last month that the game had entered pre-production.
