The Virginia Tech Hokies are in need of a number of upgrades after head coach James Franklin was hired in November. Franklin then signed a top-25 recruiting class, and then the focus turned to the NCAA transfer portal. The portal opened on January 2 and the Hokies have been busy.
The two positions that need the most attention are quarterback and rusher: Tech already has a commitment from quarterback Bryce Baker (North Carolina) and quarterback Ethan Glenkelmeyer (Penn State) is expected to join at any time. On edge rushers, Franklin recruits two former elite recruits with multiple years of eligibility remaining: Javion Hilson (Missouri) and Kamoryn Morgan (Baylor).

Former Penn State edge player Mirachie Williams revealed on Sunday that he will follow head coach James Franklin to Blacksburg.
The 6-foot-3, 248-pounder is a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He redshirted that season and appeared in four games in 2025, recording one tackle. Williams is from Drexel Hill, Pa., and played high school football at Bishop Bonner School.
Williams now joins a completely revamped Chargers team under new defensive line coach Sean Spencer.
