Video released of Vince McMahon’s 100 mph crash, result of ‘granddaughter’s birthday’

Vince McMahon was involved in a high-speed car crash in Connecticut last summer while trying to attend his granddaughter’s birthday.

In newly released police video, the WWE CEO tells a state trooper who had to catch up to him before he could be pulled over.

“Why were you driving over 100 miles an hour?” State Police Detective Maxwell Robbins asked McMahon after the accident, according to police body camera video. McMahon replied: “I’m celebrating my granddaughter’s birthday.”

Dashcam video shows McMahon driving a BMW in the same lane, hitting the brakes and then swerving at the last second.

McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT hit the back of another vehicle before hitting a guardrail.

McMahon was charged with reckless driving and following too closely, according to the Associated Press.

In October, a state judge allowed McMahon to enter a pretrial probation program, and if he successfully completes the program, the charges next October will be expunged from his record. He was also ordered to make a $1,000 charitable donation.

No one was injured.

State police said state troopers were trying to catch up to McMahon. They also said McMahon did not appear to be trying to flee police.

“I tried to catch up to you, but you just kept taking off,” Robbins told McMahon in video recorded by a police body camera on the side of the highway.

McMahon responded: “No, no, no. I’m not trying to outdo you.”
