San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama exited Monday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers early after suffering a left rib contusion in the first half.
Wembanya left the court and returned to the Spurs locker room early in the second quarter after a collision with Sixers forward Paul George that caused him to get up slowly and appear to drift toward his left shoulder. But he returned to the bench shortly thereafter, returned to the game with 5:33 left in the first half, and faced off with Philadelphia star center Joel Embiid over the next few minutes.

However, while Wembanyama continues to be impactful on both ends of the floor, he still grimaces and doesn’t look much like his MVP candidate self. With 44 seconds left in the first half, he exited the game and returned to the locker room.
When Spurs returned from halftime, he wasn’t there. Backup center Luke Kornet took over the starting lineup at the start of the third quarter. Vunbanyama finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, five rebounds, three blocks and one assist in less than 16 minutes of playing time.
