DENVER (KDVR) — Strong winds are expected to return in Colorado on Thursday, with gusts expected to reach nearly 70 mph or higher.
A Precision Weather Alert Day has been issued for Thursday due to high winds and fire danger in the Front Range. High wind and fire weather warnings are in place, which could bring down power lines and trees and potentially spark wildfires.

Denver could see gusts in excess of 20 mph, while the rest of Colorado is expected to see double those gusts.
Extreme winds expected in Colorado tomorrow
The Pinpoint Weather team expects maximum wind gusts of 60 to 90 mph.
The Pinpoint Weather team said strong gusts will occur in Conifer and Estes Park, with gusts expected to reach nearly 70 mph. Wind speeds may be higher in the foothills, with extreme winds reaching 90 mph.

Denver County is currently in “extreme” drought conditions, something the county has not seen since the Marshall Fire. The Pinpoint Weather team says these conditions could cause a fire to spread quickly if sparks occur.
