VALDIZERE, France (AP) — Swiss skier Loic Maillard took the lead in the opening World Cup slalom race on Sunday and was on track to claim his second victory of the Olympic season in two days.
World slalom champion Maillard led the Swiss team to a sweep of the podium in the giant slalom on Saturday.

The Norwegians ranked second, third and fourth respectively: Timon Haugan ranked second 0.05 seconds behind, Atle Lie McGrath ranked third 0.14 seconds behind, and Henrik Kristoffersen ranked fourth 0.43 seconds behind.
Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen was fifth, 0.51 behind.
British skier Laurie Taylor finished seventh with bib number 27.
French racer Paco Rassat, who won the slalom last month in Gurgel, Austria, straddles the middle of the gate.
The Milan Cortina Winter Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22, and the men’s alpine skiing competition will be held in Bormio.
