One day shy of the one-year anniversary of Shemar Jean Charles signing with the Seattle Seahawks , they gave him another one-year extension.
Jean-Charles, a 2021 fifth-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers, also played for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints before joining the Seattle Seahawks last season. He will primarily be a special teams player in Green Bay before getting more defensive time in New Orleans in 2023-2024.

Maybe you’re racking your brain to remember Jean Charles’ time with the Seahawks in 2025? That could be because he spent the entire season on the practice squad after training camp. Jean-Charles suffered a lower-body injury that caused him to miss the preseason and was eventually released.
However, Mike McDonald and the Seahawks are high on Jean Charles, keeping him on the practice squad throughout the season and returning him to cornerback contention in 2026. Seattle lost Rick Woolen in free agency and will be looking for cornerback depth behind Devin Witherspoon and Josh Jobe. At the very least, Jean-Charles will be another player with a chance to prove he’s worthy of a roster spot after an injury-plagued 2025.
