BOSTON — The Boston Celtics made history Saturday night against the Washington Wizards — but no one scored 84 points. Instead, the Celtics defeated the Wizards 111-100 at TD Garden for their 11th consecutive victory. That was enough to give Boston the longest winning streak against D.C. in franchise history.
In this double-digit victory, Celtics center Neemias Queta led the team in scoring (for the second time all season) with 22 points in just 25 minutes of game time. Star forward Jayson Tatum finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists, just 3 assists shy of a triple-double. He played more than 27 minutes for the first time all season and may be free of the minutes restriction. Fellow star Jaylen Brown also contributed 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

For the Wizards, star point guard Trae Young scored 11 points on 50% shooting in the first game of the season against the Celtics. Washington, D.C. lost the battle on the boards (55 rebounds to 38 rebounds) and in the paint (54 points to 30 points), which explains why they trail Boston by as many as 30 points. The Wizards last beat the Celtics nearly three years ago in March 2023, when center Kristaps Porzingis scored a game-high 32 points on his future team. Since then, they have lost to the green team 10 times by a margin of more than 10 points.
Currently, the Celtics have a total record of 43 wins and 24 losses, sweeping the season series against the Wizards for the third consecutive time. Next up is the scrappy Phoenix Suns, who will face them Monday night at TD Garden.
