NFL star Byron Murphy wore his lucky charm, the Vince Lombardi Trophy, to his wedding to love Maya Hurd.

The 28-year-old Seattle Seahawks cornerback married number maker Hurd on Saturday, March 14, in Texas, and he brought along a 7-pound sterling silver trophy. Just weeks before the wedding, Murphy played a key role in the Seahawks’ victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on February 8, recording two sacks.

In a wedding celebration video jointly shared by Murphy and the NFL on Instagram, the athlete and his bride can be seen ceremoniously attending the reception. Murphy, dressed in an all-white suit and white sneakers, held the trophy aloft and waved it triumphantly in the air as Hurd danced beside him.

Another clip from the video shows the newlyweds holding hands as they walk back down the aisle, with Murphy holding the trophy on his arm.

“A special guest attended Byron Murphy II’s wedding 🏆,” the NFL wrote in the caption of the post.

In another video shared on Instagram by Heard and wedding venue Dallas Oasis, the newlyweds can be seen dancing with the trophy. The video reads “When you’re getting married but you just won the Super Bowl.”

“A grand entrance fit for a champion…literally,” Dallas Oasis wrote in the caption. “After the @seahawks took home the Super Bowl trophy at Super Bowl 60, Byron and Maia made their grand entrance with the real Super Bowl trophy. 🏆.”

“It’s safe to say… this may be the most iconic entrance we’ve ever seen,” the venue added.

Other guest photos that Murphy retweeted on his Instagram Stories show the prestigious trophy barely leaving the groom’s side throughout the wedding festivities.

While newlywed Murphy added a wedding ring to his collection on Saturday, he previously celebrated the acquisition of another new piece of jewelry — his Super Bowl ring — in a Feb. 11 Instagram post. He also shared a series of photos of himself holding and kissing the Lombardi Trophy. “💍💍💍💍💍💍World IF Champion,” he wrote in the caption.

Murphy proposed to Heard in June 2024. At the time, the couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post and shared a series of photos from their beach proposal.

“She said yes 💍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💍 I love you baby,” the NFL star wrote.

The pair shared more engagement photos in a second post, with Heard writing in the caption: “The beginning of forever 🥂💍I said yes.”
