HOUSTON (AP) — Scottie Scheffler withdrew from the Houston Open on Tuesday, a tournament that has been problematic for him because his wife is pregnant with their second child.
Scheffler, ranked No. 1 in the world, has finished runner-up at the Houston Open three times, including the last two years in his last stop before playing in the Masters.

Matt Kuchar took his place.
On May 8, 2024, one week before the PGA Championship, Scheffler’s wife gave birth to a son, named Bennett.
Scheffler won the PGA Championship and British Open last year and opened 2026 with a win at the American Express. He had 18 consecutive top-10 finishes starting at last year’s Houston Open, but ended with a tie for 12th at the Genesis Invitational.
His last event was a tie for 22nd at The Players Championship.
