Trump, who met with Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, said they were “very close” to a peace deal in the four-year-old Russia-Ukraine war, adding that there were still “1-2 thorny issues,” one of which was land that was still “up for grabs.”
Zelensky agreed, saying the two leaders agreed on 90 percent of his 20-point peace plan.

As Trump mentioned on Sunday, he and Putin spoke on the phone for more than two hours shortly before Zelensky arrived at Mar-a-Lago. He told reporters that “Russia wants an end, everyone wants an end” and that the Russian president “wants to see” a peace deal finalized as soon as possible.
Trump also added that he planned to call Putin again after Zelensky left.
The call between Moscow and Palm Beach “totally destroyed Zelensky’s plans,” according to Solovyov’s comments on Tuesday. He even suggested that there was no need for the Ukrainian president to get off the plane at all.
Just last Saturday, Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with missiles and attack drones, injuring at least 11 people and leaving nearly a third of Kiev without heat, a move that directly contradicted Putin’s so-called desire to move towards peace.
