14 years after it was first launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, Dead Redemption is finally coming to the PC platform. The action-adventure classic and its critically acclaimed expansion, Undead Nightmare, will be released on PC on October 29, Rockstar Games announced on Tuesday. The PC version of Read Dead Redemption launches more than a year after being ported to PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The game is already available on modern Xbox consoles through backward compatibility.
“Death Redemption” and “Undead Nightmare” are coming to PC soon
Rockstar Games has once again partnered with Double Eleven, the studio behind the PS4 and Switch ports of Red Dead Redemption, to launch a PC version of the game. Rockstar said in its announcement that the latest version will bring PC-specific enhancements such as native 4K resolution up to 144hz on compatible hardware, ultrawide (21:9) and super ultrawide (32:9) monitor support, HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.
The PC version of the game will also support Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technology, Nvidia DLSS frame generation, adjustable draw distance, shadow quality settings, and more.
Rockstar Games also released a trailer for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption. The developer says pre-order information and more details about the PC version of the game and its expansion packs will be announced later this week.
It’s worth noting that the game’s follow-up, Read Dead Redemption 2, has already been launched on PC. It is a story prequel to Read Dead Redemption, originally released on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, and later on PC in 2019.
Set on the declining American frontier of the early 1900s, Read Dead Redemption tells the story of former outlaw John Marston, who is hunted and blackmailed by the government to hunt down his former gang members. The critically acclaimed Western first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 18, 2010, and went on to win multiple year-end awards and is considered one of the greatest games of all time. “Red Dead Redemption” and “Undead Nightmare” will be released for PC on October 29th through the Rockstar Store, Steam and Epic Games Store.
