Barcelona star Rafinha explains why Lamine Yamar took the crucial penalty in Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Newcastle.
Raphinha won a penalty kick before halftime and the game was tied at 2-2. The Brazilian looked ready to take the penalty again, but then handed the ball to Yamal, who quickly passed the ball away.

Raphinha spoke about penalty kick duties at the club and explained why he handed the responsibility to the teenager.
“Goalkeepers are always well prepared these days. It doesn’t matter who gets the ball. But during the game, you feel it. It’s about your confidence that night,” he said.
“Lamin told me he really wanted to take it. When you see his confidence you trust him and it worked out great! He took it really well.”
Yamal also scored from the penalty spot at the end of the first leg against Newcastle to equalize at St James’ Park and put Barca in a strong position ahead of their return to Camp Nou.
