Wayne Rooney has noticed a real shift in Mikel Arteta’s demeanor this season, suggesting the Arsenal manager is decidedly calmer than in previous years.
Arteta, known for his passion for the touchline, took a more cautious approach in this game. The Spaniard seems to have settled into a calmer rhythm, both during games and in interviews with the media.

Rooney told BBC Sport: “I think Mikel Arteta looks a lot calmer on the bench as well. I know he can still get excited at times but this year he’s calm.”
“You see it with players too,” he added.

Rooney hopes Arteta can eventually lead Arsenal to the title and he believes they could do just that this year.
Speaking about Arteta, Rooney told No Tippy Tappy Football: “Yeah, I think he’s learned. I’ve been really impressed with Arteta this season.”
“Obviously they’ve had a certain level of consistency over the last four or five seasons, but I think that’s after what games did they lose last week?
“They lost to Manchester United. I was really impressed by what he said to the media after the defeat and what he said to the players.
“A year ago, I didn’t think he would be that clinical and almost put those games in the past, really.
