Police activity shuts down section of I-495 in Fairfax County

Fairfax County, Virginia (washington dc news now) — Police investigating Interstate 495 in Fairfax County Sunday afternoon found several lanes closed to traffic, causing significant delays.

Details are limited; however, in shared a post Just after 2:30 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said all southbound lanes of I-495 Outer Loop between Gallows Road and Little River Turnpike were blocked, with traffic being detoured at Exit 50A at Route 29/Route 50.

As of 2:30 p.m., Victoria Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed vehicles stationary on the interstate near Gallows Road, moving slowly through the area. Traffic was backed up for four miles.
