Playground Games Details New Forza Horizon 6 Features: Car Meets, Seasonal Changes and More

Forza Horizon 6 will be released on PC and Xbox Series S/X on May 19, and on PS5 later this year. Developer Playground Games shared an in-depth look at the open-world racing game at the Xbox Developer Direct last month. Now, the studio has detailed some of the new features coming to Forza Horizon 6.

In an article on the Forza website, Playground detailed 10 new features for the game that were announced at a Developer Direct in January. Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, and Playground confirmed that the game will feature famous Japanese landmarks such as Shibuya Crossing, Ginkgo Avenue, and Tokyo Tower in central Tokyo.

In addition to cities, Forza Horizon 6 will also include real mountain passes in Japan, such as Mount Haruna and Bandai Higashi.

Seasonal changes will also return to Forza Horizon 6, Playground says, but this time, they’ll be more “dramatic.” Each season brings noticeable changes to the game world, including visual effects on the landscape, crops, foliage, and weather. In the Alpine region of the map, players can experience snow games no matter what season.

Forza Horizon 6 also introduces new activity types, including Horizon Dash, where players can drive around obstacle courses on the map.

The game will also feature car meet-and-greets, where players can meet online and show off their cars in the open world. During the race, players can also download music and liveries, and purchase copies of their favorite cars.

Customization options

Like previous entries in the series, Forza Horizon 6 will allow players to customize their experience. You can decorate your garage the way you want and create a showroom for your car collection. The game will also feature a fully customizable space called the Manor, where players can freely build structures and decorations in the open world.

Customization options extend to the car as well. Players can now paint uniforms on car windows. The game also adds new rims and the ability to fit different rims on the front and rear. Cars also experience natural wear and tear over time. Forza Horizon 6 will also have rare aftermarket cars parked around the map for you to find. These can be test driven and purchased at a discount, and often include rare models.

New gameplay features include Car Proximity Radar, a new switch that helps players identify cars in their blind spots during races to avoid accidental collisions. Playground says this feature is particularly useful when driving from a cockpit, hood or bumper perspective.

Additionally, the game will feature updated car and environmental sounds, an expanded car roster, and improved steering animations.

Forza Horizon 6 features the largest open world map in the history of the series. The game is currently available for pre-order on the Xbox and Steam storefronts. Users who pre-order the premium version will receive four days of early access starting on May 15th. Playground has confirmed that the racing game will launch on PS5 later this year.
