If Manchester United make a major defensive signing this summer, Pierre Kalulu looks the most likely candidate.
The French defender is enjoying a transformative league campaign with Juventus. Although the Old Lady went through an inconsistent period overall in 2025-26, Kalulu remained a beacon of hope.

Kalulu’s rare combination of blistering pace, defensive versatility, graceful physicality in the tackle and composure to attack from the back has firmly established him as one of the best defenders in Serie A.
Ineos have sent scouts to keep an eye on him as they consider a bold raid on Juve.
While there seemed to be no serious transfer rivals threatening United’s pursuit of the 25-year-old, that has now changed.
Liverpool at Kalulu game
According to “Gazzetta dello Sport”, Manchester United ushered in a familiar enemy.
Italian media reports:
“Kalulu’s record-breaking season has not gone unnoticed in the Premier League; Manchester United and Liverpool will be trying to woo Juventus.”

A fierce transfer battle is brewing
The addition of Liverpool turned what was originally a simple pursuit into a fierce transfer battle.
Just as United’s priority remains strengthening the midfield, it’s no secret that the Reds are keen to revamp their defence, so they will leave no stone unturned in attacking defensive targets.
The decision will make the Red Devils’ pursuit of Kalulu even trickier.
Despite this, Ineos have kept an eye on the former AC Milan man for far longer than their rivals.
Of course, if Juventus approve his departure in the summer, they have already planned how to win in the competition.
