Penguins’ Sidney Crosby to return to ice after Olympics injury

March 18 (UPI) — The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that center Sidney Crosby will return from a lower-body injury to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Crosby has not played since suffering the injury during Canada’s win over the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals of the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy on February 18. Upon his return, the Penguins said he would miss up to four weeks. Crosby has missed the team’s last 11 games.

“I’m excited to get back on the court,” Crosby told reporters Wednesday.

The Penguins went 5-3-3 without Crosby.

“It’s never easy to watch, but I think you get a lot more appreciation when you’re at your peak and you see every night the way we compete, the way we work, the way the game comes back and a lot of different things,” Crosby said. “I just want to jump in and contribute as much as I can.”
