Norwegian biathlete wins another Olympic bronze medal, 4 days after confessing his infidelity

ANTESELVA, Italy (AP) — Norway’s Stella Holm-Lagrede won a bronze medal in the men’s sprint biathlon at the Cortina Olympics in Milan on Friday, three days after making a surprising admission in a post-race interview.

LaGrade also won a bronze medal in the 20km individual race on Tuesday, but revealed on live broadcast that he had been unfaithful to his girlfriend and hoped to win her back.

His tearful confession was criticized by some who said it distracted teammate Johan-Olaf Boten, who won the gold medal in that race.

“I deeply regret sharing this personal story on the day that Norway celebrates biathlon,” Raglade said in a statement released by Team Norway on Wednesday.

France’s Quentin Fillon-Meyer won Friday’s sprint event for his second gold medal at the Cortina Games in Milan after the mixed relay, while Norway’s Vitler Shastad Kristiansen took silver.
