The North Carolina Wolfpack was well-balanced in receiving space last season, with no receiver totaling more than 630 yards. That includes true freshman Teddy Hoffmann, who caught 25 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns. The Delray Beach, Fla., native immediately became a viable target for quarterback C.J. Bailey, opening the season with a five-catch, 93-yard performance against East Carolina.
He continued to contribute, catching a 40-yard pass in the Wolfpack’s season finale. Heading into 2026, Huffman is expected to take on a larger role, especially with the departures of top tight end Justin Jolly, senior wide receiver Wesley Grimes and several transfer portal exits.

But according to On3’s Noah Fleischman, Huffman has been suspended for the entire 2026 season due to a doping violation of NCAA rules.
Hoffman’s performance as a true freshman was unexpected, as he was only a three-star recruit in the class of 2025 and was the No. 163 wide receiver according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Still, he quickly made a name for himself and made an impact on the field for North Carolina, which won eight games and defeated Memphis in the Gasparilla Bowl.
With Hoffman unavailable this fall and the transfer portal exits of Terrell Anderson and Noah Rodgers, the Wolfpack will have a nearly new receiving core. Jocesa Trader (Miami), Tyron Warren (Alcorn State) and Chance Robinson (Miami) could be Bailey’s top targets.
