Bernice King, the daughter of late civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is pushing back against Vice President J.D. Vance’s remarks about white privilege in America
King spoke out on social media, writing: “@JDVance help me with this. In my 62 years, I don’t remember a white person ever apologizing for being white in America. The real issue is having the courage to speak out about the advantages white people have in this country.”
She added: “It’s time to stop redefining responsibility as harm and start being honest about history, power and responsibility so we can move toward restorative justice and a shared future where dignity is not selective.”
What did JD Vance say about white privilege at AmFest 2025?
Last weekend, Turning Point USA (AmFest 2025) was held for the first time since the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025. Vance encouraged people to join ICE during his speech, but it was his comments about white privilege that people couldn’t stop talking about.

Crockett, who is running for U.S. Senate in Texas, also noted that Vance should be more concerned about the real reason he serves as Trump’s vice president.
