Tomlin and his wife Kiya were honored with the Patricia R. Rooney Community Impact Award at the Ireland Foundation Gala. His acceptance took over a minute.

“People always say we’re not here long, but we’re here to have a good time. like you have to choose“I think our experience in Pittsburgh and against a great Steelers team proves it: We’ve had a long, really good time here,” Tomlin said in a video by ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
“It’s been an honor to serve the greatest organization in sports. It’s an honor to be a part of this great community, call it home, and have our kids call it home. We’re in a nomadic industry, so we don’t take it for granted that our kids have the opportunity to call Pittsburgh home. It’s been an honor to serve the community we live in, the values we hold, and that will continue to be the case.”
The Steelers replaced Tomlin with Mike McCarthy.
