Obsidian’s upcoming action RPG Avowed has been delayed. The game was originally scheduled for release in late 2024, but will now be released early next year. Microsoft has confirmed that Avowed will launch on February 18, 2025. Additionally, the Xbox parent company reiterated the slate of upcoming first-party games as well as release windows and dates. Amid a busy late 2024 video game release calendar, the decision to delay Avowed may give Obsidian RPG a little breathing room.

The official Xbox account on X posted an update on the delay on Saturday, confirming that Avowed has been moved to February 18, 2025. “So many games coming soon! So we’re moving Avowed to February 18, 2025 to give players some breathing room in their backlog,” the post reads.

Avowed was originally slated for a fall 2024 release, but there’s no specific release date.
In the post, Microsoft also mentioned a slew of first-party games that have been announced for their upcoming launches, reconfirming their respective release dates and windows. Bethesda’s Indiana Jones and the Circle is still slated for release in 2024, while Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion is set to launch later this year.
Avowed is now on the 2025 release calendar, joining first-party Xbox games like Midnight South, Doom: Dark Ages, and Fable.
Microsoft has confirmed its participation at the upcoming Gamescom showcase, taking place from August 21 to 25, where it will showcase more than 50 games from Xbox Game Studios, Blizzard, Bethesda and other third-party partners. The Xbox parent company also confirmed that it will host theatrical demos of Avowed, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star: Shattered Space at the event.
Avowed was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcased in 2020, and the feature was detailed in a new trailer at the company’s developer face-to-face event earlier this year. The first-person action RPG will release on February 18, 2025 on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and Game Pass.
