Jacksonville head football coach Rudy Jaramillo said Gonzalez is more than deserving of the honor.
“Jacob (Gonzalez) is a great kid with a great work ethic,” he said. “It’s not surprising to me that he broke the record, especially given the season he had.”
AJ Nava and Leo Ramirez each had an assist in the win over the Bobcats.
Jacksonville (14-3-2, 9-3-1) currently sits in second place in the District 10-5A standings.
The Indians will travel to Texarkana tonight to take on the Texas High Tigers at 5:30 p.m.
Jacksonville will host Mount Pleasant in the Tribe’s final home game of the regular season on Friday at 7 p.m.
