In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Manchester City are considering signing Twente defender Ruud Nystad. It is understood that Manchester City will compete with Chelsea, Newcastle United and Barcelona to sign the Dutch centre-back next summer.
Nystad’s stunning rise in Dutch football
Nystad came through Twente’s youth teams and excelled, becoming an important member of the first team. The Dutch talent has provided one assist in 10 appearances in various league games for the Dutch club this season.

The 18-year-old is currently one of the best young centre-backs in Dutch football. Therefore, Manchester City would be better off completing a deal for him next summer.
His current contract at the Dutch club expires at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Manchester side to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Nystad is a reliable tackler who times challenges well to win the ball back for his team inside the half. He doesn’t mind running his feet through the ball when needed and can even drive from the back.

The Dutch star, who is 1.93m tall, can use his strong physique to win some aerial duels for the team. However, he is still very immature and will need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if City manage to sign him next summer.
In the long term, we can expect Nystad to bring even more quality and depth to Guardiola’s defence. He’s good enough to be a good rotation player in City’s matchday squad.
Nystad, 18, has the potential to become a future star in English football. There is no doubt that he is a rising star to watch in the future.
