Luka Doncic scores 60, LeBron James ties games-played mark and Lakers top Heat for 8th straight win

MIAMI (AP) — Luka Doncic scored 60 points, LeBron James tied an NBA games record with a triple-double on a night and the Los Angeles Lakers extended their season-best winning streak to eight games with a 134-126 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

This tied Doncic’s second-highest scoring performance in a single game, behind only 73 points against Atlanta in 2024 and 60 points against New York in 2022. Doncic also broke the Heat’s opponent record, surpassing James Harden’s 58 points for Houston on February 28, 2019.

NBA scoring leader Doncic has scored at least 30 points in 8 consecutive games and reached 50 points for the second time in the past 5 games. James scored 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, and Austin Reeves scored 18 points for the Lakers.

Bam Adebayo scored 28 points for Miami, which has lost two straight games. Tyler Herro scored 21 points and Norman Powell added 20 points as the Heat led by 15 points in the early going.

James didn’t miss a field goal until early in the fourth quarter, meaning he was 21-of-22 from the field in a little more than seven quarters. He took his final shot attempt in Monday’s win over Houston, then went 13-for-14 in Wednesday’s win over the Rockets before going 7-for-7 against the Heat.

But Doncic was the story, scoring 39 of his 60 points after halftime. He made 18 of 30 shots from the field, 9 of 17 three-pointers, and 15 of 19 from the free throw line.

The Heat were without Jamie Jaquez Jr. (left hip tightness) and Andrew Wiggins (toe).
