Liverpool’s dream midfielder appears to be an option once again. He is back in the market.
2023 is a big year for Liverpool as they look to sign elite midfielders. They completely rebuilt their base, adding Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo that year.

But the process was not smooth. In fact, they tried to bring in Moises Caicedo before signing Gravenberch, signing the player from Brighton for a British record transfer fee.
The Seagulls accepted the offer but Caicedo rejected it – he had already committed to Chelsea. Liverpool can only watch as the Blues complete his deal.
This isn’t even the only time this will happen in 2023. In January, Chelsea signed another of Liverpool’s key midfield targets.
But the product may be back on the market.
Enzo Fernandez is available
As early as the beginning of 2023, Liverpool was pushing hard to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. The Argentinian only moved there last summer but his performances, coupled with a starring role at the 2022 World Cup, have sparked interest.

The Reds are keen to get him and the likes of Ojogo claim they are actually his preference. CM Jornal claims Liverpool’s offer is close to £100m. However, Chelsea beat everyone else with a huge offer and signed Enzo.
He’s been a standout player for them ever since – but he may actually be available again.
Teamtalk claims Chelsea are willing to sell Enzo for the right price. Real Madrid are interested in him and may try to tempt the Blues to sell him.
