Liverpool get transfer answer from £26m ‘new Adriano’

Given the Reds’ reputation for developing young talent, Anfield has become an attractive destination for the world’s elite youngsters.

Recently, the club signed professional contracts with English prodigies Trey Nyoni and Leo Ngumoha. The wheels continue to turn at academy level with the signing of Mor Talla Ndiaye and a deal for Austria defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe getting closer.

Liverpool follow up on Rayang

But not every youngster is convinced of the path Merseyside offers – with reports suggesting Brazil’s top talent turned down the chance to join Liverpool.

The 19-year-old Rayan is about to leave his original club Vasco da Gama to join Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The Cherries have reportedly completed a deal to replace Anthony Semenho for around £26m, with versatile attacker Ray Young convinced of the south coast project.

Rayang says ‘no’ to Liverpool

For this reason, TEAMtalk reports, he turned down the opportunity Moved to the 20-time English champions.

“The player has shunned interest from some of England’s biggest clubs, including Liverpool,” the report said.

“Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle have scouted the player heavily over the past 12 months and are all keeping a close eye on offers.

“However, given that the route to the first team is clear, it is believed that Rayang has been sold on the Bournemouth project.”

Whether this is a damaging deal from Liverpool’s perspective, only time will tell. With Ekitek overworked, Isak out injured and Mo Salah’s future uncertain, Arne Slott could certainly provide a boost to the forward ranks this winter.

The report continued: “Rajan’s style of play is comparable to that of legendary Brazilian striker Adriano, with Vasco head coach Fernando Diniz describing him as ‘very rare’ and a ‘special talent’.”
