  • IOL Trystan Colon (wrist)

  • DT Aleem McNeil (abdominal)

  • LB Alex Anzalone (concussion)

  • SAF Thomas Harper (concussion)

Sewell has been unable to practice this week, and coach Dan Campbell hinted at a press conference Friday morning that the All-Pro right tackle may not play in the final game of the season:

I don’t have a good feeling about Sewell right now, but I always have hope. But does not having him affect you? Yes, indeed. I mean he’s a phenomenal player. He’s a great football player. However, we have some people who are willing to step in and do a good job for us. They have a job to do, a role to play, and we expect them to deliver on their promises. “

The Lions will likely hire veteran Dan Skipper to start at right tackle against the Bears, with backup Kayode Awosika available at emergency third offensive tackle. Giovanni Manu’s chances of playing in Week 18 remain slim.

Colon has been dealing with a wrist injury for several weeks, and while he has appeared to be making positive progress in recent games, he is unable to practice this week and will not participate in the Week 18 game.

McNeil’s injury cropped up before Week 17, then he appeared to re-aggravate his abdomen during the game, left early and hasn’t participated in practice since. With him ruled out, look for first-round pick Tyleik Williams to see an expanded role and likely get a starting opportunity.

Anzalone and Harper failed to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol and both were ruled out. Anzlaune is in a contract year, and it’s reasonable to speculate whether he’s played his last game as a Lion. Harper remains under contract next season.

In doubt

  • WR Ammon-Ra St. Brown (knee/ankle)

  • Lt. Tyler Decker (shoulder/illness/rest)

  • LG Christian Mahogany (Disease)

  • OL Kayode Awosika (disease)

St. Brown hopes to play in Week 18, and Campbell said things are “moving in the right direction.” Campbell did leave the door open to potentially leaving the starting receiver out of the final round, but for now, he looks set to finish the season in Chicago.

Decker has had two limited practices this week — more than most weeks — and appears to be on track for another start at left tackle.

Manu has progressed during the injury evaluation window, and while he could be an option to replace Sewell, Campbell told the media on Friday that they were unlikely to let him play in this game, reiterating that his return to training was more about getting him ready for 2026:

“I don’t think he’s going to play in the last game,” Campbell told the media, later adding, “You’re going to get football reps, so that’s a good thing for him. I mean, he looks a lot better than he did when he started three weeks ago, so that’s a good thing. He’s getting some individual work, some skill work, and a team effort against our defense. So, that always helps.”
